Happy new month guys!
It’s the beginning of August and since I’ve reconnected with my love for blogging, I thought it would be nice to start sharing my blogging goals, challenges and successes with you every month.
The ultimate goal is to eventually turn this little blog into a full grown business and I want to bring you along with me on this journey.
Admitting to the whole entire world that I am working on becoming a full time blogger, author and entrepreneur makes me nervous but yesterday as I was journaling, I felt inspired to start this plan with me series. And now here we are!
So What Is Plan With Me Series?
If you’re in the blogging world, then you’ve probably read other bloggers monthly progress reports. Some bloggers call them income reports, others call them taking stock and others simply share what they loved that month.
I’m calling my monthly progress reports Plan With Me Series for now. And as I grow and start making income from the blog I will share my income reports.
Why Share My Goals With You?
Because reading other people’s monthly reports has been my biggest source of inspiration when it comes to getting back to blogging after taking a very long break.
I’ve learned so much from other bloggers who share their goals, their progress and their failures.
So I’m hoping by sharing my journey, I will at least inspire someone else to do that thing they really want to do but don’t have the courage to start doing.
Another reason I’m sharing my goals is so that I can track my progress.
Being a blogger and in the public eye can be a recipe for falling into the competing and comparing trap. I’m determined to focus on my journey and manifest in my own lane.
Having my plan with me series to look forward to writing each month is perhaps the best way for me to do this.
Also, I feel like it will keep me accountable and help me master my manifesting skills.
And girl, I’ve got big goals to manifest so it will be amazing to see how everything miraculously comes to fruition.
What Worked In July
Completing a 31 Day Instagram Challenge
Building a successful online brand requires a social media presence, something I struggle with a lot.
So when my favorite social media mentor decided to do a 31 day Instagram challenge in June, I jumped on that bandwagon like yesterday.
I didn’t start the challenge until mid June but when I did, I managed to do the whole 31 days.
Usually, I’m the kind of person that starts things and drops off in the middle of it but not this time guys. I did the whole 31 days. I feel so proud of myself.
I know it may not be a big deal to many of you but it is to me. I learned what it takes to show up consistently and strategically on social media.
I also found my people and became part of a community of other creative entrepreneurs. Honestly, this was the reason why I completed the 31 days and why I’m still posting daily on Instagram.
And the best outcome from this challenge was that I finally found the courage to start writing and publishing on my blog once again.
Week one of the challenge was so hard because I was worried people were judging me, lol.
But by week three, I had figured out what works for me, how to plan my content every Sunday and I had established a writing schedule. Which is what I’m now using to write my weekly blog posts.
Completing a blogging and Pinterest course
Another big accomplishment in July was finally sitting down and finishing a Pinterest course I had invested in earlier this year.
Every successful blogger swears by Pintrest as a source of traffic so I invested in learning how to come up with a Pinterest strategy that works.
Unlike Instagram, Pinterest is also a search engine so there is a bigger learning curve involved.
I’ve implemented a few tweeks on my Pinterest and I’m already seeing so much growth.
I’m feeling confident that as I continue to implement what I have learned in the course, my traffic will continue to grow.
Deciding to make blogging a side hustle
Blogging is a lot of work and after I became a mom, I realized that it was hard to make time for everything I wanted to do including blogging.
Every time I thought of blogging again I just felt drained. Because I didn’t want to spend hours researching, writing and creating content that no one was even going to read and appreciate.
In July, with mentorship from other successful bloggers, my approach to blogging changed.
Instead of just writing and creating content about anything and everything, I came up with a vision, a plan and possible ways to make money from this blog.
Knowing how I could get paid for all my hard work did the trick for me to get writing and creating content again. This time with focus and direction.
I can’t wait to share with you everything I’m working on!
What Didn’t Work
Writing two blog posts per week
Honestly, I was being too ambitious thinking I could post twice a week. But good thing is I’m learning to give myself some grace.
So for now, I’ll be posting once a week until I’m confident that I can consistently do more.
Doing Facebook/Instagram Live videos
I’ve been dying to come live and chat but haven’t gotten to it. Perhaps it’s because I’m not sure where to start. I’m too anxious. And I’ve got too much going on already.
Do you hear all the excuses!
Let’s hope that I’ll finally get some courage and go live in August. Crossing fingers!
Actually, how about you send me an idea, a topic or a question you’d like answered about money, side hustling or personal development and I’ll come live just for you. Help me help you.
I’ll be waiting for your messages and ideas in the comments below.
New Posts Added In July
July Traffic Report
Since I just started blogging, my traffic isn’t anything to write home about but everyone starts somewhere. So currently I have 300 page views!
All from the support of family and friends. Thanks to you all who have taken the time to read my posts and share them with your friends. I’m humbled and I appreciate your support.
Goals For August
- Implement the Pinterest strategies I learned in July to increase my blog traffic to 1000 views
- Create a workbook/Ebook to sell in September
- Grow my email list to 100 subscribers
- Publish 4 new blog posts
That’s it guys!
I hope you enjoyed my first plan with me series. Let me know in the comments below what your goals are for August so we can keep each other accountable.
Until next time.
